The holy book of Islam has again been insulted by a politician in Sweden, namely Rasmus Paludan. Rasmus is known as a right-wing politician. The incident took place in front of the Turkish embassy in the Swedish capital.
As a result, many Muslim countries blasphemed and condemned the actions of Rasmus who dared to burn the Muslim holy book. Starting from Indonesia, Turkey, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, Qatar, Iran, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, etc., they did not want to be left behind in strongly protesting this act. Some of our statements are quoted below:
"Indonesia strongly condemns the burning of the Koran by Rasmus Paludan, a Swedish politician in Stockholm." Write the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its Twitter account on Sunday 21/1/2023.
The Grand Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Sheikh, condemned the uncivilized act of an extremist who burned a copy of the Koran.
Meanwhile, Egypt condemned the burning of the Koran and warned that this action was a disgraceful act and could provoke Muslims around the world.
"This extremist practice (Rasmus) is incompatible with the values of respect for others, freedom of belief, human rights and basic human freedoms." Said one of the Egyptian ministries.
"This heinous incident is an act of inciting and seriously provoking the feelings of more than two billion Muslims around the world." said the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"This hateful act, which offends more than a billion Muslims, can fuel anger and hatred between religion and society." wrote the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Morocco.
Pakistan calls the act of burning holy books an unreasonable and provocative Islamophobic behavior that hurts the religious sensibilities of more than 1.5 billion Muslims in the world.
Iran as one of the powers of Shia Islam also protested by saying that several European countries under false pretexts legitimized freedom of speech where this allowed extremists and radical people to spread hatred against the sanctity of Islam.
Turkey as one of the reasons this incident occurred also gave a statement. "We condemn in the strongest terms possible the heinous attack on our holy book, the Koran in Sweden, even though we have repeatedly warned about it," said a statement from their Ministry.
Because of the many protests, finally the Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson also protested the incident even though the demonstration still allowed it.
"Burning holy books for many people is very disrespectful behavior. I want to express my sympathy to all Muslims who find it deadly what happened in Stockholm today." Kristson said.
The burning of the completion of the Koran was originally to show the feelings of some people in Sweden who reject the figure of the Turkish president, namely Erdogan. This is because Erdogan asked that Sweden no longer protect Kurdish Workers' Party activists who fled from Turkey to the country.
ErdoÄŸan's request is one of the conditions if Sweden wants to get Turkey's blessing to become a member of NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization). Demonstrators reject Sweden's entry into NATO. Ultimately, Rasmus Paludan, who is known to be anti-Islam, burned the Koran at the demonstration.
